XOBDO: part of my life
Papori Gogoi*
I forgot when I first heard of XOBDO. Most probably in June, 2007. I forgot the date but never forgot the name of the person from whom I came to know about it. He is none but Buljit Boragohain from the Guwahati Team.
I went through the link of XOBDO and contributed two words the first day I became a member of this family. I want to increase my vocabulary (but I have a very limited stock of it) of any language and I found XOBDO very effective for this purpose so far as the languages of the North East are concerned. Now it has become an important part of my life and I wish my journey with XOBDO will continue.
It was a great pleasure for me to meet Buljit da, Kuldeep da, Dwipen da and Rajeeb da–the first members of XOBDO I met personally– when we went to the office of the Axom Prakashan Parishod on 3rd Nov,07. Till then my interaction with the members of the XOBDO family was through internet.
XOBDO has certain merits that I would like to cherish. The members can contribute the words which they use in their day-today life in such a processed but simple manner that one can learn the Assamese language by using this dictionary very easily. I also like the way the members interact through group mails though many of them have possibly never met. The multilingual (languages of the North East) feature of this dictionary also helps to increase the brotherhood among the speakers of different language of the area.
I promise that I will be always with XOBDO family to help it achieve its goals and try my best to make XOBDO one of the best online dictionaries of the world. As a member I thank the other members of XOBDO family for their support and contribution.
